Spotify Bares Unique Playlist Reflecting Fresh PH Discoveries

Spotify, the world's most popular music streaming and subscription service, officially launched its new playlist named "The Philippines Discovers" based on the listening trends of music fans across the country. It features tracks that reflect some of the most discovered artists in the Philippines then and now including fresh faces like ALLMO$T, This Band and JM De Guzman whose recent hits have made a mark in the brewing local music scene. 

Every month, Spotify has been powering an average of 11 billion artist discoveries from around the globe. Its listeners are beyond curious and always open in expanding their taste in music by discovering their next new favorites from a vast range of artists, songs and genres for them to explore. For users who are aged between 18 and 24 years old, the service has uncovered that they have a unique and somewhat unexpected taste for discovery. And with more than 50 million tracks in customized and curated playlists and a well personalized user experience, Spotify users around the world - both free listeners and subscribers alike - can enjoy and indulge on more than just instant access to all the world's music.

Based on Spotify's data, millennials in Asia are bopping away to the hottest Korean pop hits and some of the freshest K-pop idols and bands. The likes of rookie band ITZY as well as Spotify's Early Noise 2019 feature TOMORROW X TOGETHER can be found within the most discovered artists list across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand. In the Philippines, more than 85 percent of the artists being discovered on the service are OPM artists more particularly ALLMO$T, This Band, I Belong To The Zoo and Ben&Ben.

Meanwhile, JM De Guzman and Armi Millare have recently made the top ten list with their respective songs featured in the 2019 blockbuster flick Alone/Together from Black Sheep starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano. To anyone's surprise, also being discovered on Spotify are iconic Filipino bands from the 90s and 2000s such as Eraserheads, Parokya ni Edgar, Silent Sanctuary, Hale and Callalily. In fact, here is the most recent list of the top 20 most discovered artists in the Philippines with their respective songs being played for the first time by users aged 18 to 24 years old in the past 60 days.
