Millions of Filipinos are celebrating People's Champ and eight-division
world boxing champion Senator Manny Pacquiao's most recent victory following a
split decision victory over the once undefeated Keith Thurman in a thrilling
12-round showdown held last July 21, 2019 (Manila time) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
On the heels of Pacquiao's latest win comes something that not only celebrates
the string of victories that Filipinos have achieved in the international stage
but also highlights the heart, wisdom and strength of Filipinos that enable them
to triumph over hardships and challenges in life.
During the delayed airing of the Pacquiao-Thurman fight, ABS-CBN
officially launched and introduced the official theme song of its National
Cheer Campaign, "Galing Natin Ito!", which aims to unite the Filipino
nation in showing support to their fellow countrymen who are raising the
Philippine flag and bringing glory to the country in their respective fields
and professions. Aside from Pacquiao who continues to make history in the world
of boxing, these include beauty queens Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray who were
named Miss Universe 2015 and 2018, respectively, because of their beauty, wit
and advocacy, international Broadway sensation Lea Salonga, Donnie
"Ahas" Nietas who is highly regarded as the longest-reigning Filipino
world boxing champion of all time today, 2016 Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn
Diaz, 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal and thousands who are
making their mark around the globe.
The song was performed by 27 Kapamilya and OPM artists which feature Angeline
Quinto, Bamboo, Billy Crawford, Daniel Padilla, Darren Espanto, Erik Santos,
Gary Valenciano, Gloc 9, Iñigo Pascual, Jason Dy, Jed Madela, Kyla, KZ
Tandingan, Martin Nievera, Moira Dela Torre, Morissette Amon, Ogie Alcasid,
Piolo Pascual, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Sarah Geronimo, Shanti Dope, Toni
Gonzaga, TNT Boys (Mackie Empuerto, Francis Concepcion, and Keifer Sanchez),
Yeng Constantino and ZsaZsa Padilla. Its recording music video was eventually released
and premiered on various platforms where the Pacquiao-Thurman fight was aired
such as ABS-CBN, S+A, iWant and Sky Sports PPV.
With its very catchy tune and lyrics, "Galing Natin Ito!" can
be used to cheer on Filipinos competing in international competitions to boost
their morale and make their presence felt around the world just like how it is
done in basketball, volleyball, boxing and football events. A full music video of
the song is slated to be released and will feature more cheerleading and
dancing from JRU Pep Squad, Mapua Cheering Cardinals, Arellano Chief Squad,
UPSHD Altas Perp Squad, UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, and dance groups Precom,
Aces PH and Prime who were all performing together for the first time.
The song's lyrics was written by Jerome Clavio, Jan Dormyl Espinosa and
Tiny Corpus from ABS-CBN's Creative Communications Management division with
Gloc-9 and Shanti Dope while Thyro Alfaro provided music for the song. On the
other hand, helming its music videos are Paolo Ramos, Peewee Gonzales and
Lorenz Morales as directors, Elirose Borja and Patrick de Leon as creative
directors, DJ San Jose, Jerome Clavio and Lara Allado as producers and Ruf
