Avengers: Endgame, the highest-grossing film of all time next to the 1968 classic masterpiece film Gone With The Wind, and Spiderman: Far From Home have marked the end of an insanely thrilling chapter for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With no avail, a new chapter is getting ready to be opened as Marvel, superhero and pop culture fans were thrilled and ecstatic to learn the details of the universe's phase four which is set to begin next year and they probably can't get their anticipation relieved over them.

These details were announced by no less than Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige at the recently concluded San Diego International ComicCon in California, USA. The upcoming fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with ten movies and original series featuring an intriguing mix of sequels and new heroes to boot and immediately answers the question of what comes after the end of two highly-successful global box office hits that literally capped off the franchise. These will include the following: Black Widow (May 1, 2020), The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (Fall 2020), The Eternals (November 2020), Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (February 12, 2021), WandaVision (Spring 2021), Doctor Strange And The Multitude Of Madness (May 7, 2021), Loki (Spring 2021), What If...? (Summer 2021), Hawkeye (Fall 2021) and Thor: Love And Thunder (November 5, 2021).

The first MCU Phase 4 movie to be shown soon in cinemas is highly regarded as the one that Scarlet Johannson has fought for to have her character Black Widow be featured in her own film, and it will be a prequel of sorts which will also be starring Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh and David Harbour. On the other hand, Doctor Strange And The Multitude Of Madness directed by Scott Derrickson is more than just a sequel. Strangely enough, it will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe' first horror movie ever. Meanwhile, Taika Waititi returns to helm the fourth Thor movie in the universe but the main character will be portrayed by Natalie Portman, the first female Thor.

Shang-Chi and The Eternals are not considered to be household names but Marvel Studios is hoping that these new heroes will have wide mainstream appeal just like Guardians of the Galaxy. The Eternals, based on the comic book series created by legendary creator Jack Kirby, centers around a group of beings who use their advanced skills to protect people in the future. It will star Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani and Bryan Tyree Henry. Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings will focus on the titular character Shang-Chi who is devoting his life to bringing down his father's criminals. To be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12) with the titular character portrayed by Simu Liu (Kim's Convenience), Feige confirmed the movie will feature The Mandarin who was supposed to appear in Iron Man 3 but ultimately didn't.

The other projects will be exclusively available on Disney's own online streaming service Disney+ starting fall of 2020 and some of them will have their stories to be picked up closely considering that there was a major divide between film and television properties where the previously existing phases of the MCU didn't experience. Loki, case in point, follows the character after he escaped with the Tessaract in 2012 which was shown in Endgame and eventually didn't experience the events of Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. On the other hand, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier will pick up after Endgame, HawkEye explores some of the titular character's time as Ronin and the events of WandaVision will lead to Doctor Strange 2.

These stories pose a strongly overwhelming statement that the Marvel Cinematic Universe films and original series will intertwine and there may be a good chance that it will also affect their characters as well. Finally, there is What If...? which is the most odd throughout the whole phase. It is slated to be a non-canon animated series that presents alternate takes on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and several MCU stars will reprise their roles for these takes. With these in mind, this is all you need to know about Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And if that didn't satisfy you much and want more, then expect more information on Disney's D23 conference which will take place on August 2019.

Oh, and there is one little thing I remember to mention before I end this article. Apart from the five movies and five Disney+ original shows coming to multiple screens starting 2020, Disney's Feige announced that part of the universe's fourth phase is an upcoming project featuring Blade which will now be portrayed by Mahershala Ali. However, if you are curious where will the X-Men and Fantastic Four fit in, you'll just have to stay trubed to find out.
