Many aspiring singers in the Philippines, young and old alike, are dreaming
of making a name for themselves as professional singers and their own mark in
the local music industry with the support of their loved ones and a positive attitude
of their side. Fortunately, there are numerous platforms where they can start
fulfilling their own dreams such as the recently concluded Search For The Idol
Philippines. But only a rare few among hundreds of aspirants were given a
chance to make the most of their journey in the Idol Philippines stage. When
all is said and done, only three stand out to be considered as the idols that
never give up on their dreams.
These three were the Idol Philippines grand winner Zephanie Dimaranan
of BiƱan, Laguna and runners-up Lucas Garcia of Lipa City, Batangas and Lance
Busa of Butuan City. Prior to their Idol Philippines journey, these three have
been part of previous platforms but their hardwork and perseverance were not enough
to move on to the next stage. Zephanie first competed in The Voice Kids as part
of Team Sarah but never made it to the finale. She then joined Tawag Ng Tanghalan
on It's Showtime but lost to Season 2 grand champion Janine Berdin and eventually
lost in the wildcard rounds. Lucas also joined TNT but failed to catch the
golden microphone for Luzon while Lance was part of Bolt of Talent, a regional reality
singing tilt hosted by Michael Bolton and aired a few years ago on Star World (now
FOX Life).
Aside from their failures in previous competitions, two of the three
idols were also experiencing their own problems. Lucas was immediately rejected
in several singing competitions he is slated to take part on due to his sexual
orientation while Lance has always been striving to do his best even though he
is far away from his loved ones. Throughout their journey in Idol Philippines,
I can say that their struggles and perseverance are well worth it considering
that their vocal prowess and charm have captured the hearts of viewers and
netizens every time they perform until the grand finale. In any case, their
stories can be told through the original songs written for them by renouned Filipino
songwriters. Take a binge on these and listen from the three idols that never
give up.
The grand finale of Search For The Idol Philippines, where Zephanie
Dimaranan was hailed as the grand winner after garnering a perfect total of
judges' scores and public votes, was a top trending topic on social media nationwide
and worldwide with multiple topics taking over the Twitterverse throughout the weekend
and more than 100,000 viewers streaming the finale on Facebook and YouTube. It
also won the ratings game as the most watched program in the Philippines registering
a national TV rating of 31.4% (July 27) and 32.4% (July 28) based on data from
Kantar Media. On the July 29 episode of It's Showtime, Idol Philippines judge
Vice Ganda stated that Fremantle praised the total production of the show and
hailed it as the best Idol franchise in Asia. Expect more powerful voices and
inspiring stories from aspiring Filipino singers when Search For The Idol
Philippines returns for its second season soon.
