Some
of the biggest names in the Philippine entertainment industry were able to pay
their respects to the Filipino soldiers as ABS-CBN, the premiere media and
entertainment company in the Philippines, brought its series of "Saludo Sa
Sundalong Pilipino" events to the military camps of the Philippine Navy and
the Philippine Air Force as well as the general headquarters of the Armed
Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Veteran
actors Tirso Cruz III, Janice De Helen, Raymart Santiago and Pokwang have led
the program for the marines and sailors while leading the tribute for our
airmen and airwomen were the cast of the upcoming primetime drama series A
Soldier's Heart which is slated to start airing on January 2020. On the other
hand, drawing the loudest cheers in the last "Saludo" event of 2019
were King of Philippine Primetime TV Coco Martin of FPJ's Ang Probinsyano and
Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. Apart from the song and dance
performances by ABS-CBN artists, each program also featured the talents of our
brave soldiers in singing, dancing and even acting which was eventually enjoyed
by their fellow comrades.
Since
its inception in 2017, ABS-CBN's "Saludo Sa Sundalong Pilipino" aims
to pay tribute to the soldiers and provide them with love and entertainment
while they are away from their families to fulfill their duties to and for the
nation. It has staged ten events in different military camps across the country
from Nueva Ecija to as far as Cagayan De Oro where Kapamilya stars, journalists
and officials were able to bring joy to one of the nation's unsung heroes through
star-studded performances and tributes in honor of their continuing service and
dedication. The sacrifices of our soldiers go beyond risking their lives to
defend the nation and serve and protect its people. A huge part of their work
entails being away from their families, and not being able to do the things a
common Filipino enjoys such as watching a live show or attending a concert.
This is where "Saludo Sa Sundalong Pilipino" comes in where soldiers
can experience the Kapamilya brand of love and entertainment.
Other
Kapamilya artists that have spent time with the soldiers during the
"Saludo" events include Ogie Alcasid, Sunshine Cruz, Daryl Ong,
Klarisse De Guzman, 'Ate Girl' Jackque, Stephen, Sanrio, Tart Carlos, GT Sammie,
GT Krissha, GT Joanna, Ritz Azul, Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) alumni (JC, Hanie,
Tori, Camille, Shawntel, Abi, Franki, Diana, Lie), Idol Philippines champion
Zephanie Dimaranan and finalists Lucas Garcia and Lance Busa, Smugglaz, Eric Nicolas
and Alora Sasam. Also gracing these events to personally thank the brave men
and women of the AFP for their service are journalists Chiara Zambrano and
Bernadette Sembrano as well as network executives led by chairman and CEO Mark Lopez,
president Carlo Katigbak and COO for broadcast Cory Vidanes.
