Mang
Inasal, one of the fastest-growing fastfood brands owned and operated by Jollibee
Foods Corporation (JFC), opened its milestone 600th branch last November 8, 2019
at JP Laurel National Highway, Purok 1, Barangay Tambo, Lipa City, Batangas. Among
the highlights of the monumental opening was the announcement of its participation
in the Jollibee Group Foundation's ACE Scholarship Program for Quick Service
Restaurants (QSR) which seeks to give unprivileged youth in Lipa the chance to develop
their skills they need to be gainfully employed in the QSR industry.
Through
the network of the Archdiocese of Lipa's Pondong Batangan Community Foundation
Inc., four scholars from the city will be selected to join a class of students
who will take a QSR Technical-Vocational Course at Anihan Technical School in
Calamba, Laguna. The course features six months of in-school instruction and six
months of on-the-job (OJT) training. Starting on June 2020 and slated to run
for one year, the scholars supported by Mang Inasal will learn the rudiments of
food preparation and food serving there and will eventually earn three TESDA certificates
or qualifications at the end of the program. Single women hailing from any
point within Lipa aged 18-21 years old who is a senior high school graduate
with a scholastic average of at least 80%, lives in a household with a gross
family income of Php200,000 or less and is willing to live in Calamba City for
one year are being considered for the scholarship.
Prior
to the opening of the milestone branch, Mang Inasal collaborated with Filipina
visual artist Paulina Luz Sotto, granddaughter of National Artist Arturo Luz whose
family hails from Lipa, for the commemorative design of the former's 600th
store marker and Pinoy jeepney art installation. The artwork was an abstract representation
of Mang Inasal's journey to its own prominence becoming a new national icon in
the QSR industry. MI customers have followed the said jeepney art installation
that marked the road to the brand's milestone store opening which began with
its 591st branch in Quezon Boulevard in Manila. The road to the monumental
milestone would then move forward to the opening of new branches in Maranding,
Lanao Del Norte; Sto. Tomas, Davao Del Norte; Tacloban City; Olongapo City;
Dagupan City; Tabuk, Kalinga; Rosario, Cavite; and Fairview, Quezon City.
Mang
Inasal Business Unit Head Jojo Subido says, "We are honored to share this
feat with our loyal customers, dedicated employees, and committed franchise business
partners whose patronage and support saw us through the past 15 years. Our
journey as an enterprise was made more memorable with all of you helping us
make true Mang Inasal's commitment to provide best-tasting, high-quality, value-for-money
food and a dining experience where customers can relish the uninhibited joy of
eating." During the program on MI's scholarship participation, Subido
stated, "As Mang Inasal grows as an enterprise, it also wants to do its
share in building strong host communities whose residents are provided the
chance to become more productive members of society. This is the least we can
do to reciprocate the support we have been getting from the communities."
