A
few days before Christmas, Microsoft literally surprised the gaming world including
those who were watching The Game Awards 2019 with the announcement of its brand
new console which is slated to be named the Xbox Series X. Originally known as
Project Scarlett, the Xbox Series X looks to become one of the defining factors
in the foreseeable future of high-definition gaming and is set to compete against
the forthcoming Sony PlayStation 5 upon each other's impending release.
So,
what do gaming-centric trubists in the Philippines, more particularly fans of the
Microsoft Xbox brand, need to know about the new console? Well, a handful of local
tech and video game sites were able to share their own piece of relevant information
about the new console after watching The Game Awards. Based on what I've read
on several of them, the Xbox Series X is reported to have twice the graphical
power of its predecessor, the Xbox One X, and is set to sport a CPU four times
faster than previous generation systems. Microsoft confirmed during the announcement
of the console that it will support four generations of backward compatibility
meaning that you can play Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games on the Series X.
The
Xbox Series X ditches the classic low-profile box-style design for a sleek
tower-style system. The new next-gen console may be specifically designed to be
oriented vertically with heat vents on top, but Microsoft stated that users can
lay it down horizontally on the side if they need to and that may be the best thing
about the new system in the minds of curiously ecstatic gaming enthusiasts when
it comes to convenience. Its controllers bear similarities to those of the Xbox
One X, but they are smaller and will feature a Share button that allows users
to capture screenshots and videos while playing.
Microsoft
also confirms three games that will become available on the new console, namely:
Halo: Infinite, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and Senua Saga: Hellblade II with
more to be announced in the coming months. Though there are other key features
yet to be announced, the Xbox Series X is one console that would surely rock
the gaming world in spades, I think, and all it needs is more love and intrigue
from the gaming communities. Anyway, the Xbox Series X is due out in gaming
stores worldwide on the next holiday season. With that in mind, here is the first
official teaser of the Xbox Series X exclusive title Senua Saga: Hellblade II.
