Many Filipino gaming enthusiasts who have watched the season finale of
The Nationals Mobile Legends Bang Bang online and on their television sets thought
that PLDT-Smart Omega would favorably take home another championship to
complete its Grand Slam journey, but one team was able to literally force its
way and towards the unbreakable glass as the dust was settled. And its name is
Bren ePro.
Bren ePro is among the first teams to compete in the Philippines' first
franchise-based professional gaming league which began in the summer of 2019.
Throughout the season, the athletes representing Bren ePro were clawing their
way and struggle towards the competition in DOTA 2, Tekken 7 and Mobile Legends
Bang Bang which are highly regarded as three of the most popular video games in
the Philippines today. Prior to their participation in The Nationals MLBB
Season Finale, Bren ePro managed to earn more than Php300,000 based on their
standings in previous conferences but these are nowhere near the Php1.425
million earned by PLDT-Smart Omega due to their victories and epic championship
battles in both DOTA 2 and MLBB.
Imagine my surprise when I found out before the start of the season
finale that Bren ePro was among the top four teams based on the standings in
the two MLBB conferences to vie for the overall championship. On the afternoon
of January 18th, Bren ePro managed to earn a ticket to the grand finals after
vanquishing Cignal Ultra in the lower bracket finals. Then after a thrilling best-of-five
championship series, Bren ePro has broken the chances of Omega to complete its
Grand Slam journey and eventually became the overall champion of The Nationals
Mobile Legends Bang Bang's maiden season. Its surprising victory was indeed a
fitting way to end the inaugural season of The Nationals.
Though their well-fought earnings are not enough to reach the level of
the top three most earned teams despite winning the championship, its prowess
and resiliency proved that Bren ePro is one team that cannot be belittled and
underestimated when it comes to mainstream professional gaming tournaments. We
can expect more from these fine athletes in the future or when the next season
of The Nationals begins. For now, a trubitastic congratulations to Bren ePro, The
Nationals Mobile Legends Bang Bang season one overall champions!!
