Three of the largest-selling smartphone brands in the world today -
Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo - are officially teaming up to launch a new innovative
wireless file transfer system and eventually bring it to their customers across
the globe, especially the Philippines. Enter the Peer-To-Peer Transmission Alliance,
a uniquely intriguing system that enables seamless cross-brand file transfer with
just one click or tap on a smartphone.
The initiative formally molded by three Chinese-based global mobile brands
is designed to provide users with an unparalleled file transfer experience. It
will allow those who own a smartphone released by any of these three brands to
easily transfer files between their mobile devices without the need of a third-party
application and even network data supporting a wide range of files including
photos, videos, music, documents and more. The move is also in anticipation for
the adoption of 5G network technology where average file sizes are expected to
significantly increase due to the availability of richer and varied content.
The wireless file transfer system provides a streamlined mobile
experience that does not require Internet connection considering that it is
using Bluetooth for swift pairing and WiFi Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology for
the data transfer bringing together an instantly stable high-speed connection
between devices of up to 20 Mbps with low power consumption. The ladder will
allow users to remain connected and continue their activities on the device during
file transfer since it doesn't interrupt the WiFi connection. Users may need to
turn on both WiFi and Bluetooth on their smartphones or turn on these functions
under the device's menu then select the files they wish to share and transfer.
The Peer-To-Peer Transmission Alliance is a collected commitment
between Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo in their efforts to drive the next generation of
mobile experience. The three will continue to openly collaborate on delivering
new technological breakthroughs together in the foreseeable future. On the other
hand, the Alliance is hopeful to have more participating mobile brands and further
expand the ecosystem in the near future. For now, the feature will be gradually
rolled out on new Vivo products slated to become available worldwide starting
February 2020.
