After helping the Philippines secure the overall championship in the Southeast
Asian Games for the first time in 14 years, eSports gets another major boost
with the opening of the eSports Center (ESC) inside Eastwood Mall in Quezon
City. Powered by Globe Telecom in partnership with Mineski, Megaworld and
Logitech, ESC Eastwood Libis promises to bring the local professional gaming
scene to a whole new level with a wide array of experiential activities which
include immersion programs, community leagues, mentorships and special
appearances and engagements with influencers and top professional gaming
enthusiasts.
The premiere purveyor of the Filipino digital lifestyle experience,
through its subsidiary Globe Games and eSports, first put up the ESC at UP Town
Center in March 2019 which was successful in rallying together the country's
foremost gamers and gaming enthusiasts. The gathering eventually formed the
core of the local eSports community which went all out in supporting eSports as
one of the official events in the 30th Southeast Asian Games held in the Philippines
late last year. The ESC also aims to build on recent triumphs of the country's pro
gaming athletes as it continues to gain more support and traction following the
inclusion of eSports in the biennial meet and the success of the Philippine
national contingent SIBOL in finishing on top of the medal tally for the event.
"As the leader in development of the Filipino digital lifestyle, we
continue to invest in the future of eSports in the country. By doing this, we continue
to push the boundaries of digital entertainment for our customers, particularly
eSports and the games that they are passionate about. With the eSports Center
we are giving the community, eSports athletes, and the fans a physical home to
enjoy, share, improve and elevate their experience. The ESC is for everyone
with a passion for games and eSports," said Globe Telecom's senior vice
president and content business group head in a press release. Meanwhile, Globe
Games and eSports' Gerry Soler stated that the ESC is among the subsidiary's key
initiatives in fuelling the development of Philippine eSports and helping the
industry to grow further.
The ESC is open to all eSports enthusiasts regardless of the level of their
skills. Collegiate and corporate teams will likewise have the chance to test
their abilities against other teams by participating and competing in different
leagues that are scheduled to be held in the next few months. Also available in
the ESC are clinics and programs mentored by renouned local eSports personalities
and influencers, including several members of Team Liyab. Visit ESC Eastwood
Libis for more information. By the way, ESC Eastwood Libis is open until March
18, 2020.
