A TikTok video of several nurses of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center (MMDC) situated within the heart of Lipa City's downtown area and national highway led by Annielyn Ramos dancing to the tune of "This Is My Fight Song" in dedication to their fellow COVID-19 frontliners became viral on social media and online news sources. It just so happens to be the top video in the TikTok Challenge organized by the city government under the leadership of Mayor Eric B. Africa where Ramos won Php3,000 worth of groceries. It just goes to show how resiliently strong is the positive vibe within the city caught in the crossfires of the Philippines' battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City For All Seasons has been mandatorily affected by the enhanced community quarantine imposed over Luzon since March 17, 2020 which wqs two days after its implementation in Metro Manila due to the brewing threat of the COVID-19 across the country and the city government has been exerting efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens who have been urged to stay at home during the quarantine period. The imposition may have put the city's progress as a potential lifestyle hub in the region on hold, but I think it does not hinder many of its residents to stay at home, enjoy what they do normally everyday and follow what is mandated during the Luzon-wide quarantine. Fortunately, my family was able to comply to these restrictions and limitations for our own safety.

On the other hand, there is no stopping fake news from spreading fear and panic towards those who are vulnerable to them during the quarantine period. For instance, hundreds of residents have suddenly flocked at the public market area in the early morning of the quarantine's sixth day and disregarded social distancing to purchase what they need after learning from social media about the market's potential closure upon the possible extension of the quarantine period only to cause fear and panic within the area considering that they've been tricked by fake news. Luckily, the authorities have been urging citizens to stay updated on the pandemic through the official Facebook page of Mayor Africa and imposing measures to keep them safe and active such as a Barangay Talipapa operating in several villages throughout the city.

With these on hand, I should say that the administration of Mayor Eric B. Africa is doing a fine job keeping the citizens of the city of Lipa safe, healthy and positive in the toughest and most unusual times happening in Luzon. It is without question that the city is adhering to the standards mandated by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine. True enough, after checking out the city mayor's Facebook, I am satisfied with the city's efforts to cope against fake news, panic and fear. And when it's all said and done after the quarantine, we will all celebrate our freedom from the pandemic by taking a huge bite on one of the city's finest delicacies - el lomi. Stay positive all the way, my beloved City For All Seasons!!
