One hundred mainstream and renouned independent films - from premium titles to classic blockbuster hits - are set to be showcased in the 2020 edition of Film Development Council of the Philippines' Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino which will have its online edition for the first time in its history. These films will be exhibited on FDCP's new online channel from October 31 to November 15 and are categorized into the following sections: Premium, Classics, PH Oscars Entries, Tributes, Romance, Youth and Family, Genre, Bahaghari, PPP Retro, Documentary, From The Regions, Sine Kabataan and Sinemarya.
Filipino movie buffs can enjoy any of these available films throughout the duration of the online edition by purchasing several festival subscription options such as the Full Run Pass (Php599) that grants access to Premium Selection films and events, free content, free panel sessions and workshops, calendar and trailers for 16 days. On the other hand, they can opt for a Half Run Pass (Php299) providing access to the short films library and full-lengthed scheduled screenings for eight days or even the One Day Pass with access to the short films library and full-lengthed scheduled screenings for one day. There is also a Free Pass which grants indefinite access to the calendar and free content throughout the digital edition. Meanwhile, senior citizens and PWDs can avail of a 20% discount for their preferred festival subscription pass while students can enjoy a 30% discount as well.
The 4th annual Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) features local titles from festivals such as the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, QCinema International Film Festival, Cinema One Originals Film Festival, Sinag Maynila Film Festival, CineFilipino, ToFarm Film Festival and the Metro Manila Film Festival as well as from various film producers and regional film festivals, a PPP Retrospective, the Lab section of the Sine Kabataan Short Film Competition and the SineMarya Women's Film Festival. "This year's PPP is a solidarity event that aims to encourage support for Philippine cinema in light of the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to propagate the love for Filipino movies among audiences and help sustain the country's film industry that is gravely affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The FDCP is glad to announce that all proceeds will be given to producers involved in the festival through revenue sharing," said FDCP chairperson and CEO Liza DiƱo.
