Acer Bags Top Rank In PH Consumer, Gaming Markets Amidst COVID-19

Acer proved its dominance amidst the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines as it was hailed by a recent market research study as the leading laptop brand in the local consumer and gaming markets. Its market share in notebook PCs was unshaken with a 32% unit brand performance for the month of August. The brand has also recorded the highest sales in more than a year, led value share with 31% and reached the highest brand value for 13 months. With these on hand, Acer remains at the top of the local notebook PC market for 14 consecutive years.

On the other hand, Acer strengthened its grip on the gaming segment with a 42% unit share in August, setting a new record in more than a year. With the Predator Helios 300 as the best-selling gaming notebook PC, Acer remains consistent in topping the gaming PC market. Despite its strong grip in the local consumer and gaming PC markets, Acer continues to exert efforts that will help Filipinos affected by the various degrees of community quarantine periods imposed and implemented across different parts of the country brought by the pandemic on their road to recovery and resilience through various initiatives.

Headlining these initiatives is the Acer Academy program which aims to provide the educational environment the digital framework that will enable the way of interaction within the academic situation. Open to all interested public schools, colleges and universities in the Philippines, the program sports a dedicated team who will develop real and innovative IT solutions that accelerate the learning process and set new benchmarks in educational standards. With the increasing demand of laptops as work-from-home productivity tools for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Acer continues its operations in order to serve essential and frontline businesses before and during the lockdown such as in healthcare, banking, telecommunications and business process outsourcing (BPO).

Acer's gaming brand Predator recently launched PredaCast, a series of online workshops conducted by brand ambassadors including Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao, CongTV and Team Payaman, Akosi Dogie, TNC Predator DOTA 2 Pro Team, ArkAngel Predator PUBG Pro Team, NexPlay Predator, VladFX, Kuya Nic and Lupon WxC, Kang Dupet, Een Mercado, Kuku Palad, Marlon Marcelo and its newest ambassadress Ivana Alawi among all other key gaming and eSports personalities. Acer has also provided relevant promotions during the pandemic such as up to 18 months Home Credit installment plans at 0% interest, a product bundle in partnership with Smart for a Department of Education (DepEd) compliant online learning setup, and free foldable work desk bundled with select Acer laptops to aid workers whose income were affected by the pandemic.
