In the most challenging times the Philippines is facing due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, there should be no network wars. No matter how popular and bright they are or may be, Filipino actors, actresses and artists should be given flexibility and be allowed to take on work where it is available. This is how the landscape of the Philippine television scene should move forward in the mind of former Congressman and BrightLight Productions President and CEO Albee Benitez, and this is how a new era in local television should be according to Archangel Media president Michael Tuviera - where unity and collaboration take precedence over competition, where the focus will continue to be on the audience who lend their eyes and ears to the stories we tell, and where content is king.

This is where TV5 Network Inc. and Cignal TV, the leading pay TV provider in the Philippines, come in when their chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan undauntingly declared an open invitation last August. According to MVP, the doors of both Cignal and TV5 are open to displaced workers in the entertainment industry which is a clear display that the priorities of the network is to give a helping hand and keep people afloat amidst the pandemic. This eventually resulted to the two companies forging new collaborations and partnerships delivering a fresh new perspective on how can audiences enjoy TV5's new sleuth of entertainment, news and sports programs and reinforces TV5's vision to become a formidable force in Philippine television as it continues to challenge traditional programming standards and reinvigorate the network's adaptability to survive and thrive in the pandemic and beyond.

TV5's new vision and direction under its new open-door policy began with game shows Fill In The Bank and Bawal Na Game Show, Usapang Real Life with Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Bangon Talentadong Pinoy, Chika BESH!, popular Korean dramas Reply 1988 and Wok Of Love, My Extraordinary, and the network's new flagship primetime newscast Frontline Pilipinas. Viva's strong partnership with TV5 remains resilient with their joint venture Sari Sari Network Inc. now on its fifth year and is joining the wave of new and exciting entertainment programs with Masked Singer Pilipinas, Ghost Adventures, and Onstage. Then comes Brightlight Productions which began airing its own batch of shows on the channel last October 18 featuring some of the biggest and brightest stars and personalities including Sunday Noontime Live (SNL), I Got You, Sunday Kada, Lunch Out Loud (LOL), Rated Korina and Oh My Dad. And this is just only the beginning as Filipino viewers can look forward to more content that will give them meaningful reasons to come together and enjoy watching their favorite stars on TV5 as 2020 comes to a close and the new year on the horizon.

Indeed, Philippine television has slowly entered a new chapter with TV5 at its forefront in fulfillment of its ultimate goal of uniting Filipinos through topnotch entertainment featuring some of the biggest and brightest stars in local tinseltown and offering opportunities to people in the local entertainment industry making the television experience rediscovered, rewritten and remade. With waves of entertainment programs on the rise brought by its open-door policy and flavored by Cignal's nationwide reach, bigger and better BER months and beyond are literally upon us to our delight and optimism.
