2020 was a huge year for the gaming industry. As people are mandated to stay within the safe comfort of their own home and avoid social interactions due to the threat of the global pandemic, it is without question that many are shifting to digital entertainment that not only boosted the use of video game systems, but also empowered gaming all throughout the year. With this in mind, Sony Interactive Entertainment launched a new feature which allows gamers to celebrate their achievements of the past year and share them to others if necessary.
According to SIE's Content Communications Manager Brent Easton in an article on the PlayStation Blog, the PlayStation Wrap-Up reveals one's gaming stats for 2020 including trophies earned, which games played the most, average playtime for every day of the week and a breakdown of how many hours one gamer spent in online and offline games. The feature focuses mostly on the PlayStation 4 but those who manage to get their hands on the PlayStation 5 can receive less-detailed stats on the number of hours spent on their most played game, PS5-specific trophies earned and overall playtime.
Any PS4 (or PS5) gamer who is interested to check their own gaming stats for the past year need to have a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, be 18 years old and above, and played at least ten hours of gameplay in 2020. They will have until March 2, 2021 to receive their own personalized Wrap-Up and view their gameplay stats. Those who are experiencing errors and issues regarding their own Personalized Wrap-Up should change the region automatically detected by https://www.wrapup.playstation.com. Otherwise, access the browser's settings and clear the cache. Then try going to the Wrap-Up 2020 website and access the stats feature.
Aside from one's personal stats, the PlayStation Wrap-Up report also shares some global trends and interesting stats achieved collectively by PlayStation users from around the world in 2020. Last year, 834 million gamers "collapsed in fear" while playing Ghost Of Tsushima while a total of 200 million hours were played worldwide in The Last Of Us Part II which is highly regarded as the most awarded video game of all time. The top three PS4 games on PlayStation Now in 2020 were Marvel's Spiderman, Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn. To celebrate the release of the Wrap-Up, SIE has also released a free dynamic theme for the PS4.
