World-renouned PC and gaming brand Acer has announced that it is pushing through with the 2020/21 Asia Pacific Predator League which is slated to be held virtually on April 6-11, 2021. Those who were left on the edge due to the postponement of the league's 2020 edition because of COVID-19 will have something to look forward to as teams from across the Asia Pacific region will battle it out for national pride and glory in an online-only tournament.
"The decision to host the Asia Pacific Predator League fully online, instead of its cancellation, demonstrates Acer's commitment to the gaming community," said Acer President for Pan Asia Pacific Operations Andrew Hou. "With the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we made the decision to move the competition to Spring 2021 for the safety and best interests of the tournament's competitors, fans, spectators and staff," he added. The teams who qualified for last year's Asia Pacific Predator League Grand Finals are the first ones to claim a slot in this year's tournament while the remaining teams will be filled by those invited by Acer. Altogether, these squads will go head-to-head against each other for the coveted APAC Predator League shield.
For the 2020/21 edition, the league has been divided into four sub-tournaments where the teams will be pre-assigned depending on their geographical location. These tournaments include the following: APAC Predator League 2020/21 Grand Final DOTA 2 Asia, APAC Predator League 2020/21 Grand Final DOTA 2 APAC, APAC Predator League 2020/21 Grand Final PUBG Asia, and APAC Predator League 2020/21 Grand Final PUBG APAC. A sum of US$400,000 is pooled across all the competitions of Acer's APAC Predator League 2020/21.
All ticket holders of the postponed 2020 APAC Predator League Grand Finals will be compensated in full while VIP ticket holders of the said event are guaranteed of Predator League souvenirs as a token of appreciation for their patients and support. Further details regarding the refund process will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
