Leading mobility company and motorsports supporter Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has confirmed plans to reopen the Toyota Vios Cup race series for its one-make race cars. Coming from the success of its maiden season, TMP also announced the launch of the second season of its GR GT Cup e-Motorsport tournament.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances such as prohibitions from government and health authorities and risks to the health, safety and well-being of participating racers, the Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup is slated to start on July 2021. It aims to bring together the top circuit racers in the country who are vying for the championship in the promotional, sporting and super sporting classes. Aside from the races in different classes, the Vios Cup will also include the highly-popular Autocross Challenge. After the postponement of last year's event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TMP is determined to stage the Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup 2021 with a leveled-up waku-doki (heart-pumping excitement) energy while observing strict health protocols mandated by local government and health authorities. Meanwhile, online racers from different parts of the country can experience their own brand of waku-doki right within the safe comforts of their own homes by taking part and racing in the GR GT Cup e-Motorsports series which begins on April. Through Gran Turismo Sport for the PlayStation 4, Filipino eSports racers can virtually drive the GR Supra and other Toyota car models on the world's most popular racing tracks with exciting prizes await the winners. br>
“While the race itself will be done live at the Clark International Speedway with no on-site spectators, more fans can enjoy watching the event as a digital spectacle. Supporters all over the world may follow and view the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing – Vios Cup online in the safety of their own homes,” said Sherwin Chualim, TMP’s First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations. “Fans can look forward to significant improvements in the production to make the livestream doubly exciting and worth catching. Online fan engagements and brand building experiences will also be boosted through the support of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing global brand and the addition of the GR GT Cup e-Motorsports (online racing) activities,” he added.

Limited edition Toyota Vios one-make race units are available for aspiring participants. Those who are interested in joining the upcoming race series can contact the Vios Cup secretariat managed by TMP's official race management partner Tuason Racing via e-mail at vioscupsecretariat@gmail.com. TMP will announce details on the reopening of the Toyota Racing School and the Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup 2021 Circuit Championship and Autocross Challenge in the coming weeks. On the other hand, registration for the GR GT Cup e-Motorsports series is open and interested participants can visit www.toyota.com.ph/gtcup.
