With the goal of promoting Filipinos' love for motorsport and continuously developing globally competitive racers, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) reopened the Toyota GAZOO Racing Academy Philippines (TGR Academy) with a new set of drivers and familiar faces in the industry. Formerly known as the Toyota Racing Academy, TGR Academy PH brings together motorsport enthusiasts to jumpstart their journey in the exciting world of motorsports. The team of mentors and instructors is comprised of tenured racing trainers with at least ten years of experience and previous champions of the Toyota Vios Cup in the Philippines.

After a hiatus last year in compliance with public safety regulations, classes have been reopened starting with the Basic Circuit Car Class where future drivers learn the basic skills and essential safety rules needed to properly drive a race car around the track. The Level 1 class also tackles threshold braking, downshifting, and track lapping. The theory lecture was conducted through a virtual webinar and supplemented by an on-ground training session at the Clark International Speedway (CIS). Meanwhile, the Advance Circuit Class (Level 2) teaches racers eyeing a position on the podium for the upcoming Toyota Vios Cup 2021.

Unlike previous racing school classes, this year's session no longer allows students to share a vehicle with other participants to ensure their health, safety and well-being due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. Registrations were done online and parts of racing classes were conducted via online video conferencing. Students and staff were tested upon entering the CIS for on-ground training. A dedicated time slot for each batch of students is strictly followed and driving instructions were conducted through two-way radios. All equipment and vehicles were disinfected before every use. Working with Toyota Vios' official One-Make-Race build, Level 2 students will be armed with advanced techniques and skills to make their way towards the finish line. Students also got a chance to have the feel and grit of the competition through a mock race in the Level 2 race class.

The reopening of the TGR Academy Philippines is a great stepping stone for those interested in taking part in the Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup which is slated to be held on July. This season, aside from introducing a new batch of racers, TMP is bringing back the Super Sporting Class as well featuring the country's seasoned racers. The Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup 2021 will be presented in cooperation with Bridgestone, official fuel partner Petron and Motul. Other sponsors include ROTA, Brembo, Denso, AVT, 3M, Tuason Racing and OMP. TGR Academy PH will continue to be a starting point for Filipinos who aspires to fulfill their racing ambitions or those who simply want to improve their driving and handling skills on the tracks.
