The Federation of School Sports Associations of the Philippines (FESSAP) Aquatic Club (FAC) is set to host and stage the 2nd Philippine University Swimming League (PUSL) as the qualifying tournament for the 31st Summer Universiade (World University Games) which will be held in Chengdu, China on June 26-July 7, 2022. This was announced by the newly appointed FESSAP Aquatic Club chairman and FESSAP Executive Assistant for State University Affairs Allan D. Soria.
Aside from the Chengdu Universiade, the 2nd PUSL will also serve as a qualifying tournament for other international swimming competitions including the 20th ASEAN University Games slated to be held on July 26-August 6, 2022 following the conclusion of the Chengdu Universiade. Moreover, the event under the supervision of the FESSAP Aquatic Club is highly supported by various state universities in the country led by Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) and Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Manila.
The PUSL is set to be held on December 15-17, 2021 in Central Luzon with the support of Bataan Peninsula State University President Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis and Sports Director Dr. Romeo Nisay coordinating Soria who is also the TUP Sports Director. Soria is supported by TUP President Dr. Jesus Rodrigo R. Torres and will be assisted by BPSU swimming coach and FAC Region III Director Francis V. Gallardo. Furthermore, Soria requested BPSU to host PUSL and provide the necessary facilities for the competition including its Olympic-sized swimming pool as its venue and university dormitories with affordable costs for athletes, coaches and officials.
Newly-elected FESSAP President and businessman-philantropist Edwin C. Fabro acknowledged the efforts of TUP President Dr. Torres, BPSU President Dr. Rodis and Soria of promoting student-athletes to be active in sports consciousness programs and initiatives and committed to participate in local and international competitions. The Federation of School Sports Associations of the Philippines (FESSAP) is the national university sports federation duly recognized by the International University Sports Federation which conducts the World University Games, an Olympic event of universities with a membership of 185 countries, once every two years.
