Two independent games have made their way onto the Nintendo Switch but what's more interesting about these two is that Garden Story and Love Esquire showcase the talents of Filipino game developers considering that they are developed by Filipino indie game developers who are trying to prove to the gaming world that homegrown talent can be shown anywhere within its corners, including eSports and game development.
Developed by Portland, Oregon-based Filipino pixel artist and game developer Picogram and published by Rose City Games, the action role playing game Garden Story tells the story of Concord, the youngest grape in The Grove, whose job is to help restore the island. With the help of his friends Elderberry, Rana and Fuji, the Guardian Concord will find ways to get rid of the chaos brought by the dangerous Rot and encourage residents of The Grove to rebuild the community. There's plenty of work to be done, but don't forget to take time and appreciate the lush, living world and the fruits of your labor. Listen to the island's sweet and catchy music, relax in The Grove's cozy and inviting atmosphere, cultivate gardens and libraries, and enjoy meeting delightful personalities along the way.

On the other hand, you should "git gud, get laid and find man's greatest pleasure" in order to be noticed by your senpai. This is what Love Esquire is all about. Initially released in 2019 on PC (available via Steam), Love Esquire is a hybrid dating simulator with turn-based combat that is akin to many popular anime being released featuring a familiar premise. Developed by Yang Yang Mobile, the game tells the story of a fledging squire making his way to becoming a knight who follows the whims of his quartermaster. As expected, you will get to choose from five damsels waiting to be wooed depending on different personality types whether it is the joyful merchant Vel or the prim and proper Kamala among others.
Both Garden Story and Love Esquire are part of Nintendo's Indie World Showcase prior to their release on the system. These are available via the Nintendo eShop and are priced at US$19.99 and US$24.99, respectively. These two are also available on PC via Steam with Garden Story also on the Epic Games Store.
