Huawei Philippines continues to develop, build and strengthen the local Information and Communications Technology (ICT) talent ecosystem as it welcomes fifteen (15) new schools, colleges and universities from different parts of the country to Huawei ICT Academy.
Officially announced through a virtual ceremony, the Academy onboarded the University of the East, STI College Alabang, Southville International School and Colleges, Colegio de Muntinlupa, Pamantasan Ng Lungsod Ng Muntinlupa, Southern Luzon Technological Colleges Foundation, Angeles University Foundation, University of the Assumption and Marinduque State College in Luzon. The Academy has also reached the Visayas regions through partnerships with the University of Visayas and Cebu Institute of Technology while Huawei brought the ICT Academy initiative to Mindanao through collaborations with Xavier-Ateneo De Cagayan University, Holy Cross of Davao College and Jose Maria College.
Huawei Philippines Enterprise Business Group's Director for Channel Development Ken Bijianjun warmly welcomed Huawei's new partner schools for the ICT Academy initiative. In his speech during the virtual onboarding ceremony, Bijianjun said that Huawei ICT Academy is a corporate social social responsibility program that deals with opportunities and challenges in the ICT industry. It provides high-quality resources and certification courses in AI (Artificial Intelligence), big data, cloud computing, storage, 5G, security and so on for the benefit of both students and teachers. “Huawei cultivates talents for the ICT industry in the whole world. We also hope to build a strong and meaningful talent ecosystem in the Philippines for Filipinos,” he added.
On the other hand, University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP)'s Dean of College of Information and Computing Dr. Randy S. Gamboa recalled the school's journey with Huawei ICT Academy as one of its pioneering universities when it was first introduced and launched in the Philippines back in 2018. “From the designing of the memorandum of understanding to the hosting of the national ICT competition, Huawei and our university have been working together to advance the use of information and computing technologies in education. Sharing this information, generating opportunities and improving the ICT talent ecosystem are our important goals," Dr. Gamboa said. He also noted that seven USeP faculty members have received Huawei Certified Network Associate certifications with three of them eventually becoming Huawei Certified Academy Instructors.
