The progressively emerging video game development industry in Southeast Asia has been shown some love and support amidst the negative effects of the continuing global COVID-19 pandemic with programs aimed at helping budding game developers fulfilling their dreams of showcasing their own pitch to local and international audiences in hopes of impactful success and a foreseeable future in the global gaming scene upon reaching such success. These include the Toge Game Fund Initiative by Indonesian-based independent video game publisher and developer Toge Productions and Project PIGI (Philippine Indie Games Initiative).
The Toge Game Fund Initiative aims to help game developers and independent gaming development companies in Southeast Asian countries fulfill their visions and goals for their future in the video game industry by funding a game pitch to create their own next big hit. According to the Frequently Asked Questions page of its website regarding the initiative, Toge Productions will also provide consultation and mentorship, project management assistance and testing and feedback apart from funding with the developers owning 100% of their intellectual property over their works. Through the conditions for the fulfillment of the initiative, Toge will only request the Right of First Refusal which means that Toge will have the chance to offer the developer a publishing deal before other publishers.

On the other hand, Project PIGI is a joint initiative of established local game development firms Ranida Games, Squeaky Wheel and YangYang Mobile and is only being exclusively offered to aspiring and budding game developers in the Philippines. Project PIGI invites local developers to submit a prototype of their work to gain a shot at getting to pitch their potential big hit to local and international audiences. The project officially kicked off where monthly game development panels help out aspiring developers within a six month period. Throughout the first quarter of 2022, only ten will be selected to continue receiving advice prior to the actual pitch on April 2022.
Through these programs, those who want to make their own break in the video gaming industry can have the open opportunity to showcase what they think has a potential to be the next big hit and, hopefully, seek knowledge from renouned game development firms that can be potentially utilized in the near future.
