National heartthrob Joshua Garcia joins forces with P-Pop sensations SB19 comprising of Pablo, Josh, Justin, Stell and Ken in their latest music video that’s all about the joy of giving. Partnering with financial super app GCash, the group, endearingly called ‘Mahalima’ by their fans, recently released their official Christmas jingle that’s sure to be everyone’s LSS (Last Song Syndrome) for the season. Adapted from the favorite carol of a similar name, “We Wish You A Merry GCash” puts a modern spin on the traditional act of “pamamasko” or “aguinaldo". The song celebrates a bigger, better Christmas where Filipinos all over the country are able to express joy and gratitude for family and friends because everyone deserves a truly Merry Christmas.
“Christmas is always one of the most celebrated occasions in the Philippines because it’s synonymous to family, friends, and loved ones. ‘We Wish You A Merry GCash’ is a true portrayal of Christmas traditions celebrated over generations of Filipinos, made easier and more rewarding through GCash," said GCash Chief Marketing Officer Neil Trinidad. Debuted on YouTube last November 5, 2023, "We Wish You A Merry GCash" is the second Christmas collaboration between SB19 and GCash after the memorable “G Pa Rin Ang Pasko” in 2021. For this year’s jingle, GCash and the group worked together to create the snappy choreography for the chorus, reminiscent of their signature moves in their smash hit “Gento". SB19 shares, “We’re excited about expanding our Christmas celebration this year, especially with those who couldn’t be with us during previous gatherings. GCash is playing a vital role in making this happen. We’re using GCash to send Christmas gifts, share the joy, and prepare for our upcoming gatherings. It’s a convenient and heartwarming way to ensure that ‘Lahat Merry’ – everyone is happy and part of the festive season, no matter where they are.”
Having broken into the Philippine music scene only five years ago, Pablo, Josh, Justin, Stell and Ken quickly became known for their unconventional but catchy sound and raw talent. The versatile musicians recently made even bigger waves with “Gento”, an ode to their transformation as a boy group. With the launch of the music video, Joshua joins the celebration with Christmas admittedly being a very personal occasion for him and his family. “Christmas is a very special time for us because this is when our whole family comes together for a reunion,” said Joshua. One of the main stars of the recently concluded "Unbreak My Heart" which is a historic collaboration between ABS-CBN, GMA Network and Viu Philippines has always been open about his close ties with his family and has dedicated his work numerous times to them. Despite his busy schedule and picking up new hobbies like cooking, the seasoned actor said that family get-togethers are simple yet meaningful. He also recalls fond memories of caroling around the neighborhood as a staple tradition when he was younger. “Gifts don’t have to be expensive, but I always put a lot of thought into what will make someone happy,” he added.
