Global interactive entertainment brand HoYoverse, publisher and developer of the hit open-world action RPG Genshin Impact, announced that the new season of Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup is about to commence with an updated competition system. For the first time ever, players will be divided into Atlantic and Pacific Regional Tournaments, encounter other elite players from an even broader area, and compete for the title of the championship and a total prize pool of US$60,000 per region. Registration for the Wild Card competitions is ongoing, offering players their last chance to qualify for the new season as well as bonus rewards including 160 Primogems and an exclusive card back.
Every match — from the Top 32 playoffs to the final of each regional tournament — will be broadcast in the upcoming new season. Genshin Impact fans, players, and any TCG lovers can watch the duelists shine via @AstraCarnival on X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok as well as via @GenshinImpactOfficial on Twitch and @genshinimpact_en on TikTok beginning on May 2024. As Teyvat's most popular tabletop card dueling game, Genius Invokation TCG was first introduced as a new gameplay mode for Genshin Impact in December 2022. In 2023, a diverse range of competitions was introduced for players in different regions uncluding the official tournament "Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup" and the community tournament "Cat's Tail Gathering". The contestants of this year's The Prince Cup: PACIFIC and The Prince Cup: ATLANTIC will each be comprised of the top 24 players from the previous "Cat's Tail Gathering" as well as 8 spots yet to be decided from the Wild Card competitions.
The Wild Card competitions are the last chance to enter this season's The Prince Cup for those who missed the Cat’s Tail Gathering. These competitions will take place from April 26–28, 2024 for the Atlantic Region and from May 17–19, 2024 for the Pacific Region. All candidates will receive 160 Primogems after completing their first match and those who manage to win their first Bo3 (Best of 3) will get an exclusive in-game card back. Registration is available until 11:59 pm of April 15, 2024 via https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSed2AcZ1FHGz2ZUsFS9QRyMkAzESeYZnn5Qahbkxq3ku0HFaA/viewform for the Atlantic region and https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfOuYdtuy62Yf8fg3lhXF_nS_VdEGFsu--34Sa7gIsescey_Q/viewform for the Pacific region.
After the players that have qualified for the Prince Cup have been decided, they will need to advance through the Regular Season (Top 32) and Knockout Stage (Top 8) to become the champion of their region. In the Regular Season, 32 top duelists will be randomly divided into 4 groups to decide the strongest 8 players. Advancing to the Knockout Stage, the Top 8 will compete face-to-face in Bo5 (Best of 5) double-elimination matches and the last two standing will compete in a Bo7 (Best of 7) to decide the final champion and winner of the US$16,000 grand cash prize. For the Atlantic region, the Regular Season is scheduled to be held on May to June to be followed by the Knockout Stage on July. On the other hand, the Regular Season for the Pacific region will run from June to July with the Knockout Stage slated for August.
