A Week-Long Celebration Of Filipino Dance Talent At Samsung Performing Arts Theater

The Samsung Performing Arts Theater is presenting a week-long celebration for International Dance Day (IDD) on April 24-28, 2024 which will showcase more than 500 Filipino dancers across a range of styles including folk, ballet, and contemporary dance, along with a workshop on dance film. Presented by Ayala Land in collaboration with Make It Makati and Circuit Makati, the event is initiated by the International Theatre Institute (ITI) Dance Committee. IDD serves as a global tribute to the profound influence of dance on society. This annual celebration, established in 1982 in honor of the 'father of modern ballet' Jean-Georges Noverre, aims to unite communities across cultural and political boundaries while recognizing the artistic contributions of dancers and choreographers worldwide.
Themed “Dance For All", IDD offers a captivating exploration of music and movement. Singer-songwriter mrld is poised to captivate audiences at the Connx Off The Weekend Festival, scheduled for May 4, 2024, in Indonesia. Kapamilya artists are going full blast in spreading the power of music among today’s generation as StarPop stages a series of campus tours nationwide. It was a day full of relatable stories told through beautiful and captivating songs numbers with ABS-CBN Music artists Alexa Ilacad, KD Estrada, Jason Dy, Jeremy G, Angela Ken, FANA, Kice, and Jem Macatuno who all brought their A game at Arellano University in Manila last April 11. The event was in line with StarPop’s objective to introduce a new breed of Filipino acts and stir today’s youth toward further appreciation of OPM.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos said, “We’re discovering a new breed of artists and singer-songwriters. Pareho silang ng experiences, ng nararamdaman with today’s generation. Ito yung mga artists na pwedeng kumonek sa Gen Z.” The Saint Louis University stop in Baguio City last March, meanwhile, featured rising talents Anji Salvacion, Maki, Gello Marquez, Trisha Denise, and Nameless Kids, alongside Angela, Jem, and Kio who treated the audience with their original music and artistry while students of University of the East-Caloocan were able to enjoy exciting performances from Alexa, Angela, FANA, Gello, Jem, Jeremy, KD, and Marlo Mortel last April 19, 2024.

The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) recently concluded its annual outreach program SPEEd Outreach 2024, bringing aid and joy to residents in Nueva Ecija and Aurora. Led by its president Salve Asis (Pilipino Star Ngayon and Pang Masa), SPEEd officials and members visited Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija, and Dingalan, Aurora last April 4 and 5, 2024, respectively and provided cash donations to a parish in Nampicuan and a barangay in Dingalan with valuable assistance by Beautéderm Corporation led by Rhea Anicoche-Tan and the group's long-time supporter Unilab.
In Nampicuan, SPEEd partnered with the Immaculate Conception Parish Church, Diocesan Shrine of the Holy Face of Jesus, to conduct a dental mission for the youth. Spearheaded by Parochial Vicar and Head of the Church's Promotion Committee Fr. Renz Valente, Dr. Rex Gaculais and a team of volunteers provided free dental services to around 100 students and residents. The outreach program also included an “Egg Caldo Caravan” sponsored by Councilor Alvin Magtalas, his wife Filipina Magtalas, and their son, Magic Hurts star Beaver Magtalas. Continuing their mission in Dingalan, Aurora, SPEEd, in collaboration with the Magtalas family and Emily Grey of 428 Mercado Hotel And Resort, distributed food and medicine to a Dumagat community.
