Leading major Philippine broadcast media company GMA Network proudly announces the promotion of Joy Romina Marcelo from Vice President to First Vice President of Sparkle GMA Artist Center and Talent Development & Management in recognition of her exemplary leadership and numerous successful initiatives that have significantly elevated Sparkle through events, digital innovations, and branding efforts both locally and internationally. Ms. Marcelo has been instrumental in the recent success of the Sparkle World Tour, a series of back-to-back concerts held across the USA and Canada and soon in Japan. These events not only strengthened the global presence of Sparkle's talents but also fostered deeper connections with overseas Filipino communities and international audiences.
The Sparkle World Tour started strong with two sold-out events in California: on August 9 at the City National Grove of Anaheim and on August 10 at South San Francisco High School. The star-studded lineup featured Asia's Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose, Kapuso Total Heartthrob Rayver Cruz, Comedy Concert Queen AiAi Delas Alas, Kapuso comedian Boobay, Kapuso veteran actor and host Isko Moreno, and Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards. Produced by Sparkle GMA Artist Center in collaboration with Sky Beverly Hills and BLVCK Entertainment and in partnership with GMA Pinoy TV, the tour's U.S. leg was a resounding success, setting a high bar for the subsequent shows. On August 11, the tour traveled to Canada where Alden and Boobay delivered another unforgettable performance at the Southview Alliance Church in Calgary. The overwhelming response from the Global Pinoys in Canada prompted the addition of a fourth show in Bathurst St. and Wilson Ave. North York in Toronto last August 17 featuring Alden, Isko Moreno, and Boobay. Sparkle Goes to Canada tour was produced by Sparkle GMA Artist Center, Berce Enterprises, and V. Fons Productions, in partnership with GMA Pinoy TV. Meanwhile, the Toronto show is produced by Sparkle GMA Artist Center, Taste of Manila, and the Society of Philippine Artists, Recreation, and Community, in partnership with GMA Pinoy TV. The Sparkle World Tour will culminate on September 1 in Nerima City, Tokyo, Japan featuring Philippine TV's New Action Hero Ruru Madrid, Sparkle's Prime Gem Bianca Umali, Star of the New Gen Jillian Ward, Kapuso leading man Ken Chan, Kapuso Total Heartthrob Rayver Cruz, and Asia's Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose. The Sparkle World Tour is sponsored by Luxe Slim, Avignon, Philippine Airlines, and Niceprint Photography.
Under Marcelo's strategic guidance, the Kapuso network achieved its biggest on-ground contract signing for the "Signed For Stardom 2024" event which saw the participation of almost 50 young and seasoned stars and artists. This landmark event underscored the strength and appeal of Sparkle's roster of artists. Furthermore, Marcelo played a pivotal role in leading the execution of the GMA Gala 2024 which set new records with unprecedented revenue generation through sponsorships and garnered over 1 billion online views and reach, solidifying its status as the year's most-watched and talked-about event. Marcelo also spearheaded the first-ever Sparkle TikTok Series, an innovative venture that expanded Sparkle's digital footprint and engaged a younger, tech-savvy audience. Additionally, she oversaw the successful launches of the highly anticipated Sparkle Kilig Series Stars, Sparkle 10, and Boys of Summer projects, all of which have been met with enthusiasm from fans and industry insiders alike. Further amplifying Sparkle's global reach, Marcelo led the recruitment of international stars Kim Ji Soo and Nancy McDonie whose additions to the Sparkle lineup has brought a new level of excitement and international attention to the Network's talent pool. Of course, the current roster is also kept busy in her unwavering push to broaden their participation in various platforms not just in mainstream and on stage but more importantly in digital and streaming among others.
"Joy Marcelo's promotion to First Vice President is a well-deserved recognition of her unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions to GMA Network. Her visionary approach and ability to execute high-impact projects have not only elevated our brand but also set new industry benchmarks," said GMA Network Inc. Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes. Marcelo's promotion comes as Sparkle GMA Artist Center continues to strengthen its position as the leading talent management arm in the Philippines while continuing to expand its influence on the global stage. With her at the helm in this new role, the department looks forward to further milestones and continued success.
