In 2017, the Batangueño theater scene was introduced to Sinderela At Ang Gintong Sapatilya where its titular heroine was brought to life by homegrown actress and TikTok star Queenay Mercado. Ten years later, the beloved musical is stepping back into the spotlight with a new Sinderela, a new creative chapter, and a homegrown cast ready to make a mark of its own in the local theatrical landscape.
The announcement was made by Teatro B and Lipa Actors Company (LAC) during the closing show of Ang Sistema Ni Propesor Tuko, the second installment of their Brunch Theater series, held last October 18, 2026 at Hashtag Coffee Capitol Site in Batangas City. It also marked the introduction of 17-year-old STEM Medical student Rhoelle Mamorno as the newest Sinderela and Craig Matthew Quizon as her Prince Charming, Antonio. In an exclusive preview following the successful closing show, Mamorno and Quizon offered audiences a taste of the musical through a duet performed straight from the upcoming production. This marks a significant new chapter for a homegrown theatrical production that is ready to return to the stage and find its place in the hearts of a new generation.
A New Sinderela, A New Generation Of Magic
For Mamorno, stepping into the iconic role means carrying a story that has lived in the company’s history for nearly a decade while making it her own. The upcoming production honors the legacy of its original staging without being bound by it, allowing a new interpretation of Sinderela to emerge through a fresh cast and creative vision. Paired with Craig as Antonio, Mamorno will lead an ensemble of Batangueño performers who earned their places through a rigorous audition process held last July 2026. The cast, which will be announced in the coming weeks, represents a deliberate commitment to developing local talent and creating opportunities for artists from Batangas to tell stories on their own stages. Mamorno hopes to carry the legacy forward and create meaningful experience for the next generation to come. At a time when homegrown theater continues to create spaces for stories and emerging performers, the return of Sinderela At Ang Gintong Sapatilya underscores the power of local productions to preserve creative legacies while making room for new voices.
A Classic Fairytale, Reimagined For The Stage
Originally written by Luisito Nario with RK Mercado as co-writer, Sinderela At Ang Gintong Sapatilya brings a distinctly Filipino take to a story that generations have grown up knowing. Its return brings together an experienced creative team determined to deliver a musical experience worthy of both longtime supporters and first-time theatergoers. The production will be co-directed by Gawad Kumintang awardee Peregrine Santiago and Dangal Ng Batangan awardee and 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) Division Champion Vince Conrad. Fernando Silva will serve as Musical Director, Glenn Ramirez as Technical Director and Architect Dhennis Sigua as Production Designer. Together, the team will bring the musical’s characters, songs, and theatrical world to life in a new staging that celebrates the imagination, artistry, and collaborative spirit of Batangueño theater.
The Magic Returns On February 2027
Sinderela At Ang Gintong Sapatilya is set to take the stage on February 20, 2027 at 7:00 pm and February 21, 2027 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Teatrino Saxum of Scuola Maria – Batangas City. Tickets will be priced at Php800 but the production is set to offer an early bird promo of Php750 until November 2026. For Teatro B and Lipa Actors Company, the comeback is an invitation to revisit a beloved story while witnessing the next chapter of local theater unfold. It is also a reminder that the stage can be a place where young artists find their voices, familiar stories gain new meaning, and an entire community comes together to celebrate its own talent.
