The recently-sealed partnership between the grassroots program of the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas and the sports arm of the leading media and entertainment company in the Philippines is set to bring the conclusion of the 2016-2017 season of the said tilt which is eventually the former's 10th year anniversary to Filipino basketball fans, providing them a platform that will showcase the new breed of Philippine basketball that is bound to shine in the future.
Throughout the course of the competition, players from about 700 public and private schools all over the country have been competing in intense and grueling rounds, from the city rounds to the regional finals presented by Freego. From there, 20 of the best secondary school squads in the nation will advance to the National Finals to be grouped into Division 1 and Division 2 and will be joined by Fil-foreign guest teams from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and USA. Aside from the National Finals, the highlight of the four-day affair will be the 6th SM-NBTC North vs. South All Star Game which is slated to rekindle the rivalry between national team coaches Jong Ulchico and Josh Reyes featuring 23 high school standouts including four Fil-foreign players.
The National Finals will be aired on ABS-CBN Sports and Action (S+A) on March 16, 2017 starting at 6:00 pm while the All-Star Game hits local television screens on March 17 at 2:00 pm. Filipino basketball fans may catch the action live via sports.abs-cbn.com.
