HOOQ Seeks New Original Content with Filmmakers' Guild

On the celebration of its 2nd year anniversary, Asia's premiere online entertainment service HOOQ is now giving opportunity to budding and emerging filmmakers to make their dream television series a reality with the launch of the HOOQ Filmmakers' Guild.

The contest is open to applicants from the Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Vietnam and Malaysia who are either in film school or professionals in the film industry. They can submit their proposed scripts and treatments for their own television series with a maximum of 13 episodes from June 1 to August 1, 2017. From all the submissions, only 5 of the best scripts will be chosen. The chosen filmmakers will then receive a fund of US$30,000 to produce a pilot episode which will be shown on HOOQ. The panel of judges will select a winning pilot that will be turned into a full TV series.


According to HOOQ chief executive officer Peter Bithos, there is incredible talent for television series making in Asia and HOOQ wants to give Asian filmmakers the power to create quality entertainment that can give customers the chance to indulge into different world through their own content all in the comforts of their own backyard.

Aside from the upcoming On The Job movie and mini-series which is set for an August release, HOOQ is slated to debut two new original productions within May and June in cinemas - namely Critical Eleven and Sweet 20 while two more will be coming out within the year.
