On the first day of the month before the start of the much-awaited long
holiday season in the Philippines, young and old Filipino viewers have tuned in
to the rebirth of a new music revolution as Viacom International Media Networks
and Solar Entertainment Company relaunched MTV Philippines anew and eventually
officially rebranded the channel as MTVph.
The new MTV channel in the Philippines began its broadcast with
dedicated programming that cater to the Filipino audience ranging from popular
music and youth entertainment shows to special international music programming based
around artists who are unique to the youth entertainment brand. These programs
include well-known original MTV shows such as Ridiculousness, Ex On The Beach,
Are You The One, Vidiots, Clickbait, 16 and Pregnant, Simply AF, and the hot
and fresh Siesta Key! among others.
Other than that, MTVph is also showcasing a progressive introduction of
localized content which aims to introduce local music talents and up and coming
acts. In fact, included in the debut of MTVph is Daily Dose which airs everyday
at 6:00 pm featuring local sounds up to cross-land tunes and even from chart
toppers to today's biggest hits. Making the rounds for the newly-rebranded
music channel are MTV Injected, a local segment that showcases the coolest and
trending happenings around the Metro from music events to pop culture and the live
and exclusive broadcast of the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards featuring global pop
sensation Katy Perry as host and performer.
In the coming months, music lovers and pay TV viewers may expect more
from MTVph as it sets to redefine entertainment for young Filipinos and
celebrate their lifestyle as well as championing homegrown and international
music and re-energize the local music scene. These include the live and exclusive
broadcast of the 2017 MTV European Music Awards on November as well as more local
programming and original productions that would delight young audiences in the
coming months.
