Starmobile Team Up With
Smart, Adamson For Millenniors
Senior citizens are being taught on how to use a smartphone as part of Starmobile's "Millenniors" program (Image Source: Starmobile) |
Many Filipino elders today consider
taking selfies, posting on Facebook and chatting on Messenger as fun and
exciting ways for them to get in touch with their children and grandchildren,
many of whom they don't always get to see or speak with. This is where Starmobile
comes in with its "millenniors" program which aims to teach
technology to the elderly.
In partnership with Smart Communications and Adamson University,
seniors were taught the basics on how to use a smartphone and join Facebook.
Smart's public affairs team provides the lectures while student-volunteers from
Adamson's Computer Science Department and Integrated Community Extension
Services conduct hands-on sessions for participating seniors. During the
program, elders have used Starmobile's Play and Up smart phones that are
designed for first-time users and Engage tablet PCs for those who prefer large fonts
and images.
