Many gamers from different parts of the country have flocked at the SM
City North EDSA Event Center to try out the latest games available for the
PlayStation 4 home gaming system to their delight. Such anticipation proves
that the video game market in the Philippines continues to grow.
We grew up playing video games since the days of the Nintendo
Entertainment System and the Sony PlayStation and would eventually embrace them
beyond our childhood memories as if they are part of every Filipino's pop culture
experience in today's modern world. And if there is any authentic reason behind
the continuous growth of the local gaming market, it has to be the fact that
Filipinos have been influenced from different countries such as Spain, USA,
Japan, South Korea and more.
Among these influences, it seems that our relentless love for pop
culture is pushing us to embrace a wider range of diversified titles that are
available in the local market whether for the home or on-the-go. This could
make sense why the Philippines is a potential market in the video game industry
which is highly regarded as an advantage for the likes of Sony and Ubisoft.
Many Filipinos would certainly tend to learn their own lessons and
understand the values that are embodied in every video game they enjoy. With
that in mind, it is without question that the Philippine video game market will
continue to move forward towards new heights in the near future as long as
there are more local gamers especially in the millennial generation who are
hungry for the games they want to satisfy for their own pleasure.
