The second season of Galaxy Battles promises to become the biggest
international pro gaming event to kick off 2018 as it pits aspiring and veteran
e-sports players from different parts of the globe to compete in a prestigious
tournament that will take place in the Philippines.
And there is no better and bigger stage to hold something like this is
no less than the Philippine Arena at the heart of Ciudad de Victoria in
Bulacan. Although the venue is owned by a religious community in the
Philippines that is widely known around the world, it is intriguing to learn
that the Arena is embracing its potential to become one of the biggest e-sports
venues to be reckoned with in the near future. And the organizers of Galaxy
Battles 2018: Emerging Worlds is banking on it as it eyes to set a new world
record for having the biggest audience in an e-sports event considering the
Arena's 60,000 seating capacity.
Anyway, Galaxy Battles 2018 will be headlined by sixteen pro gaming
teams from around the world. Half of them are some of the finest pro gaming
teams on the planet which are directly invited by Fallout Gaming and Purpose
Win, while the other half will come from regional invitational and open
qualifiers that are played throughout China, Southeast Asia, Europe, the
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), North America and South America as
well as two wildcard teams.
Well so far, it seems that four teams have already earned their spot in
one of the numerous DOTA 2 major tournaments sanctioned by Valve. These are four-time
Majors champion Optic Gaming, The International 7 runner-up Newbee, Infamous
Gaming from Peru and the Philippines' own TNC Pro Gaming Team who has made the
local gaming community in recent memories including its memorable quarterfinal
finish at The International 6. Oh, and speaking of Philippines' own, local pro
gaming team Skyville is looking to join TNC in representing eight stars and the
sun and Southeast Asia if it can manage to win the grand stage of the New Blood
Championship game to be held next month.
Aside from the main competition, it looks like the upcoming Galaxy
Battles is set to become more than just a grand e-sports tournament as it will
fill the Philippine Arena with a range of theme parks and a music festival
featuring local and international artists. "What we hope to achieve with
the fusion of entertainment and e-sports is a more holistic approach to
creating an exciting and fresh way to experience gaming," says Fallout
Gaming managing director Adrian Gaffor.
