Are you still waiting for Brillante Mendoza's Amo? Well, I have a bit of good news for you. Although there is no official word yet on when it will hit the small screens, the crime drama revolving around the ongoing war against drugs in the Philippines is set to go global as it will be available on the popular streaming service Netflix.

It looks like the American-based content streaming giant has recently forged a deal with TV5 Network Inc. that would bring the thrilling series to a global audience. This partnership is considered a good deal for both parties since Netflix continues to work with talented and passionate storytellers in bringing enjoyable and entertaining premium content to its more than 117 million subscribers around the world while TV5 remains on the verge of breaking even.

Amo tells the story of Joseph, a high school student who starts out as a small-time drug peddler. His involvement in the drug trade would eventually get him entangled in a violent and dangerous world of drug lords, crooked cops and corrupt government officials. The series stars Vince Rillon, Derek Ramsey, Felix Roco, Baron Geisler, and Allen Dizon among others and is directed by the world-renouned critically-acclaimed Filipino filmmaker Brillante Mendoza.

The series was scheduled to be aired on TV5 starting August 25, 2017; however, its partnership with ESPN would hinder the show's long delay in a serious master. Netflix's acquisition of one of Mendoza's finest masterpieces would hopefully ease the doubts and disappointments of Filipino viewers while waiting for its airing on what is now known as The 5 Network. Anyway, the 12-episode miniseries is set to delight binge-watchers once it becomes available on April 9, 2018.
