The Senate of the Philippines has proudly managed to recognize the
success and achievements of Filipino music icon Ka Freddie Aguilar through
Senate Resolution No. 658 filed by no less than Senator Vicente Sotto III and eventually approved following its introduction, and
it just so happens that the recognition was granted as Ka Freddie's song
"Anak" recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Senate Resolution No. 658 recognized and acknowledged the Filipino
music icon for his unreadable contributions to the Philippine music industry as
well as his works that captured the hearts of not just Filipinos, but also
those around the world. And it is all thanks to the hit classic
"Anak", which was first heard during the final years of the Martial
Law in the Philippines.
As stated in the said resolution, the song was eventually heard in over 50 countries around the world and
translated in 29 different languages. In the 1980s, the song was considered a
world hit by Billboard and even topped the US hit charts for two weeks. It was
a record that has been unsurpassed throughout the history of Philippine music
as of 2006. The song has been used in several Filipino movies over the years.
Not only that, it was tapped as the official theme song of the 2015 Korean crime
drama film Gangnam Blues starring Lee Min-ho.
