More Filipino movie buffs were enthralled and even thrilled to enjoy Paramount
Pictures' latest thriller flick A Quiet Place, and it is quite interesting to
learn that the movie has sparkled its way to the two of local box-office in
just two weeks. I guess the word of mouth strategy courtesy of those who have
watched it may have something to do with its success.
According to local film distributor Columbia Pictures, A Quiet Place quickly earned Php41.7 million on its opening weekend and almost Php80 million in its second weekend showing, respectively. These intriguing figures are all accountable to the film's total box-office gross of Php144.6 million in just two weeks making it one of the highest-grossing Hollywood thrillers in Philippine box office history. With that much traction on hand, it is expected that A Quiet Place will continue its momentum due to word of mouth and repeat viewings on the horizon as most cinemas are set to extend its exhibition in the midst of new competition.
On the other hand, A Quiet Place has already made rounds on top of the North
American box office with a total domestic gross of US$132 million. It has
eventually made rounds around the world with an overall gross of US$206 million
and is set to gain traction in China and Japan. Sadly, its run in the box
office will not last for long considering that Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War
is coming to the big screens.
Anyway, for those who don't know much about A Quiet Place, the movie
revolves around a family of four trying to survive in a world with mysterious
creatures that hunt by sound. If they hear you, they hunt you. The film is
directed by John Krazinski and stars Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, Millicent Simmonds
and Krazinski himself. Still showing in theatres nationwide, A Quiet Place is
distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures via Columbia
Pictures.
