NIMO
TV, an online game streaming service in Southeast Asia, and Mineski Events Team
(MET) officially kicked off the biggest and grandest Rules of Survival (ROS)
tournament in the Philippines and it is off to a great start thanks to an
overwhelming surge of about 300 teams from different parts of the country that are
participating in the said affair for pride and glory.
It
has been over a year or so since NetEase Games' own MMO battle arena marvel captured
the hearts of many young Filipino gamers, and I was impressed to see that its continuing
popularity remains intact if you look at the computer shops around the
community that has ROS. The NIMO TV ROS Philippine Champions League is
literally a Christmas gift to the thousands of ROS gamers in the country with
the purpose of boosting the popularity and growth of the local professional
gaming scene.
From
the hundreds of teams duking it out in the recently concluded preliminary round
held last November 24-25, 2018 in three different venues across the Metro, only 45 teams will move on to the playoffs
which is slated to take place on December 1-9, 2018 where 15 are slated to go
on to the final stage of the tournament on December 15, 2018 with a Php500,000
prize pool at stake. The grand winner of the ROS Philippine Champions League
will take home the grand cash prize of Php100,000 while the second and third
placers get Php80,000 and Php50,000, respectively.
Apart
from the cash prizes and in-game items, the top five teams throughout the course of the
competition will represent the Philippines in a ROS regional tournament where
they are set to compete against other ROS teams in Southeast Asian countries
where the game is available. Heck, any of these teams could have a chance of
competing against the finest from all over the world if they manage to burst
their way to the top of the region. With that in mind, the ROS Philippine
Champions League is sure to be one event that can cap off an exciting and
intriguing year for Philippine eSports.
