In
case you haven't read one of the articles that I published last week, one of
the reasons why shoppers and their loved ones should spend their first weekend
of December at AboitizLand's The Outlets at Lipa is the Batangas Festival where
we think that a lot of products made by Batangueno-based entrepreneurs and
small business owners will be showcased in a one-day affair. However, that is not
the case because what we thought of the Batangas Festival on December 8, 2018
as a local trade fair is way beyond what we can expect.
This
is because it is not actually a one-day local trade fair at all. In fact, the
Batangas Festival which will take place at Luzon's biggest outlet destination
is a celebration of the province's rich cultural, social and economic resources
considering that it is one of the oldest provinces in the Philippines. Based on
data from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), what
was formally known as Comintang was officially recognized as a province in 1581
during the Spanish regime and is now comprised of 31 municipalities and three cities
with Batangas City as its capital.
Good
food, astounding art, fresh sounds and a more ecstatic cultural extravaganza
await shoppers, foodies, music lovers, couples and more from different parts of
the province as a unique way of celebrating the 437th founding anniversary of
Batangas with this year's theme "Live, Study, Work and Have Fun In Rich
Batangas" encouraging visitors and tourists to experience how it feels to
enjoy the province's rich treasures and it is intriguing to learn that it will
be held in one of the highly-anticipated destinations situated within the
confines of LIMA Technology Center between Lipa City and Malvar, Batangas.
Anyway,
the whole day festivities will kick off with a Eucharistic celebration at 9 am
followed by the Culture, Arts and Environment Awards with no less than the honorable
provincial governor Hermilando I. Mandanas gracing the event. Headlining the celebration
is the opening of the Art Walk, a display of locally made art pieces produced
by members of Grupo Sining Batangas, and Batangas Shoppes which showcases products
from different clusters and farm tourism groups across the province.
Another
highlight that is set to make the celebration more enjoyable is the series of
hourly street and stage performances from different solo artists and performing
groups in Batangas starting at 1 pm. Capping it all off is the BRAVE (Batangas
Rave) Party hosted by FAITH (First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities)
Colleges and LIMA Park Hotel featuring DJs Tom Taus and Jennifer Lee setting up
their own beats and hyping out the crowd at night. With these on hand, at least
you know that Batangas province's own foundation day is more than just the
history but a celebration of what the province is all about. Speaking of history,
I almost forgot to mention that the one-day celebration will be dedicated to
one of the great heroes of the Philippine Revolution who was born a BatangueƱo
by heart and soul, General Miguel Malvar, and it will be the first among all
foundation day celebrations through the years.
