Cinema
One, one of the leading cable channels in the Philippines, commemorates twenty-five
years of championing Philippine cinema and showcasing the finest and freshest
Filipino films on television with the recent launch of its official theme song
"Laging Kasama" performed by Daniel Padilla which can be viewed and
listened on Cinema One's official YouTube channel.
One
of the first locally produced cable channels in the country began in 1994 as
Sky One. It soon changed its name to Pinoy Blockbuster Channel, then to its
current name in 2001 as one of ABS-CBN Corporation's flagship cable channels
under its subsidiary Creative Programs Inc. Cinema One channel head Ronald
Arguelles shared that Cinema One was born to provide a 24-hour channel
showcasing Filipino movies and began producing local magazine shows such as
Cinemanews, Persona, Cover Story and Review Night following the channel's rebranding.
From
a repository of locally made films on Philippine television, Cinema One has evolved
through the years and is now producing and staging its own bevy of movies
through the annual Cinema One Originals film festival that has brought
international recognition and award-winning stories such as the box-office
blockbuster hit "That Thing Called Tadhana" and eventually opened
opportunities for young and aspiring filmmakers to deliberate and showcase
their own stories through their works. Furthermore, Cinema One gives
independent filmmakers and film personalities more time to articulate their
views and opinions about their projects and discuss varied issues affecting their
work and their lives.
The
channel has also staged outdoor screenings via its Open Air Cinema to bring the
moviegoing experience face-to-face to the public complemented by live music and
games for a more refreshing experience. It even produced its own original
series Single/Single which has two successful seasons and a movie in 2018 as a
conclusion. This year, the channel has gone full blast as it is now streaming selected
movies and documentaries on its official YouTube channel which now has over
120,000 subscribers and counting.
As
part of its 25th year anniversary, Cinema One is set to premiere the highest
grossing Filipino film of all time, "The Hows Of Us" starring
Philippine cinema's newly-crowned phenomenal stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel
Padilla, on June 30th (Sunday). On the same night, the channel will also air
the digitally restored version of probably the oldest film on its archive
"Ibong Adarna". Join the celebration of Cinema One's 25th year
