Team
Phenom and Team Gilas Women's have emerged victorious as the men's and women's
champions, respectively, of Red Bull Reign Philippines basketball tournament
held last June 29, 2019 at Kerry Sports Manila, Bonifacio Global City where they
will advance to the Red Bull Reign Global Finals on August in Toronto, Ontario,
Canada and represent the Philippines against fifteen other nations across the
globe.
What
is Red Bull Reign? Well, it is a high-endurance, offense-driven 3-on-3 street
basketball tournament that gathers some of the best ballers from different
parts of the globe. Each game in Red Bull Reign is contested under strict rules
inspired by FIBA's 3-on-3 rules where teams consist of 3 players (+ 1 reserve)
aged 18 years old and above, each game is played back-to-back on opposite
halves of the court, and the first team to score 21 points or the most in 10
minutes wins the match. Fourteen male teams and eight female teams have
participated in the Philippine edition of Red Bull Reign.

women. Teams from countries including Russia, United Kingdom and Canada have
staged tournaments to find representatives to compete in the Global Finals. With
several local teams all vying for the Finals, this year's installment kicked
off early in the morning and progressed throughout the day until there are two
teams remain - Zamboanga Valientes and Team Gilas Women's. Gilas Women's would
eventually vanquish the Valientes in the Finals with the final score of 21-06. Team
Gilas Women's is composed of some of the members of the Philippine national
women's basketball team - Jack Daniel Animam, Claire Castro, Janine Pontejos
and Afril Bernardino - with years of experience in their belt.
