Twenty-four year old Jin Macapagal proved what it takes to follow in
the footsteps of his idols in Philippine showbiz as he was hailed as the
Ultimate Bidaman in the grand finale of one of It's Showtime's popular segments
dubbed "Bidaman: The Big Break" which was held last August 10, 2019
at the New Frontier Theater. Jin prevailed and bested eleven grand finalists in
three different challenges that tested their acting skills, charm, connection
to the audience and stage presence.
The Cebuano lad sealed his winning place in the competition earning an
average score of 8.9 from the judges following the finale's final challenge,
The Spotlight, where the top three contenders were made to act alone using
their own drama piece. Jin's average score is high enough to beat fellow contenders
Eris Aragoza (8.6) and Jiro Custodio (8.3) in the process. Prior to the final
challenge, the physical therapy graduate showed off his dance moves in Bida
Moves and proved his acting chops in Matinee Matibay where he acted side by side
in a hospital scene with Kapamilya leading lady Jane Oineza.
Joining the panel of judges in the Bidaman grand finale headed by It's
Showtime creator and director Bobet Vidanes were Angel Locsin, Nadine Lustre,
Joshua Garcia, Ian Veneracion, Edu Manzano and ABS-CBN business unit head Ruel
S. Bayani. As the Ultimate Bidaman, Jin won the following prizes: Php1 million
cash, an exclusive management and movie contract with ABS-CBN, house and lot
from Lumina Homes, a brand new pickup truck from Ssangyong and a role in the
upcoming 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) movie "Mommaland"
starring Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis. On the other hand, runners-up Eris and
Jiro took home Php100,000 each while the rest of the grand finalists including
people's choice Ron Macapagal were not to be left out as they won Php20,000
each.
