In
more than four weeks since it was first shown in local cinemas on the last day
of July, Star Cinema's "Hello, Love, Goodbye" literally became the
straw that broke through the glass after officially earning more than Php838
million worldwide and making it in the North American box office charts. Many
have credited the phenomenal success of the movie to the masterful storytelling
of Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina, its unwavering tribute to Overseas Filipino
Workers (OFWs) around the world more particularly in Hong Kong, and the surprisingly
impressive chemistry of the movie's main stars Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards
which make movie buffs crave to watch it all over again. But all is not lost for
those who have missed the chance to watch it.
The
continuing blockbuster success of "Hello, Love, Goodbye" has pushed ABS-CBN
Books, a subsidiary of the Philippines' premiere media and entertainment
company, to publish and release its book adaptation which is slated to bring the
story and premise of the box-office blockbuster hit to those who would consider
waiting for it to be aired on the small screens with everything intact. In any
case, I can assume that it will be shown first on ABS-CBN TV Plus' Kapamilya
Box Office (KBO) PPV channel by the end of the year and on Cinema One probably
before the start of next year's holiday season but what matters right now is
that one can imagine watching the love story of Joy and Ethan for the first
time or catch it all over again while reading the novel. That could worth one's
Php250 out of his or her pockets.
Apart
from the book adaptation, it would seem that even "Hello, Love, Goodbye"
is not safe from piracy as there have been reports of pirated DVD copies of the
film selling in various markets around the Metro. Fortunately, these were all
confiscated by the Optical Media Board (OMB) which is not to be surprised or
expected. Besides, it is one of the major factors why the Philippine film
industry continues to struggle its own way out of its comatose state aside from
lack of support from the viewing public and the continuing traction of Netflix and
related online streaming services. Don't expect any Filipino film to be nice especially
"Hello, Love, Goodbye" so it would be best to say no to piracy and stick
to watching fresh Filipino films in cinemas.
With
this in mind, the neighbor of good news and fresh stories would like to
recommend you to buy the "Hello, Love, Goodbye" novel online via Lazada, Shopee or the official Facebook page of ABS-CBN Books which is well worth not
regretting for not watching the movie before it says goodbye to cinemas. The
book contains everything that you want to see in the movie along with an
expanded take on Joy's story, behind-the-scenes pictures and more. If you are
experiencing fear of missing out on the love story of Joy and Ethan, then its
book adaptation is the perfect remedy to conquer it and freely express your own
take on it.
