The
start of 2020 marked the start of a new chapter in the world of video games as
new opportunities and a whole sleuth of anticipated choices waiting for gamers
and enthusiasts around the world to try, and it will be literally headlined by
an impending showcase of next-generation gaming power when Sony's PlayStation 5
and Microsoft's Xbox Series X are going to rock the global market by storm.
However, while waiting for the showdown slated to happen in the forthcoming holiday
season, there is one usual problem that has been on gamers' minds every start of
the year.
That
problem should be obvious since it has always been the same usual question
whenever the new year has begun, and that would be in the form of a simple but
highly relevant question: 'What should we play in 2020?" Well, there are
many who can answer that particular question, but here's my take on what gaming-centric
trubists should anticipate and eventually play in the year 2020.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
(PlayStation 4)
There
are those who want to relive and rekindle their memories of playing Final
Fantasy VII on a current home gaming system considering that it is arguably one
of the all-time greatest that set new standards for role-playing games and even
gaming as a whole, and they would be assured of it upon its worldwide release
on when summer reaches the Philippines. The premise and experience remains firm
in the remake but flavored with better visuals, voice acting and more.
Cyberpunk 2077 (PlayStation
4, Xbox One, PC)
Perhaps
the most highly-anticipated game of 2020 would probably be this futuristic action-adventure
game from CD Projekt Red, the great minds behind the critically acclaimed The Witcher
franchise, where players can take the role of the cyberpunk V with a sleuth of
options that they can choose to customize including weapons. Let's not forget
the voice of Keanu Reeves within one of the game's characters. It's also due
out on when the Philippines is on summer fever.
Doom Eternal (PlayStation 4,
Xbox One, PC)
Want
to know what makes the latest installment of Activision's Doom franchise more
immersive and intensive than the ones before? Well, you're just gonna have to
find out when it becomes available in gaming store shelves in your area.
League of Legends: Wild Rift
(Android, iOS)
On
its tenth anniversary celebration, Riot Games announced the coming of League of
Legends for mobile gamers called Wild Rift and it is one that those who are
fond of the likes of Mobile Legends and Arena of Valor should watch out for and
try when it comes out. The game maintains the premise, gameplay and almost
everything about LoL but it is well-optimized for mobile play. Expect LoL: Wild
Rift to conquer your Android and iOS phones within the year.
Bravely Default II (Nintendo
Switch)
Nintendo
and Square Enix have officially announced the sequel to the highly-intriguing
JRPG Bravely Default through the showing of its first teaser during The Game Awards
2019 last December, and the good thing about it is that it will be made by the
same team behind the first Bravely Default game. More details will be announced
prior to its impending release within the year.
