Activision's widely popular military FPS franchise Call Of Duty is joining the battle royale scene aside from Fortnite and Apex Legends with Warzone which was officially released worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC last March 10, 2020 and has registered more than six million players in just 24 hours after its launch. The free-to-play multiplayer battle royale mode plays like other games of the similar genre where players will compete against other players to survive until the end, but its interesting features are what makes Warzone set apart from the likes of PUBG and Rules of Survival (RoS).

Warzone's battle royale mode will consist of 150 players split into three squads. After jumping off the plane and landing on any part of Verdansk carrying only a handgun, players must start searching and collecting weapons and vehicles in order to fend off other players until one of them is the last person standing. A safe zone will appear within the land and eventually shrink over time while the area outside the indicated safe zone comprising of deadly gas that will depleting a player's health unless the player wears a gas mask for a short amount of time. Players who are killed during the match will find themselves in a gulag where they'll have to do a one-on-one encounter with another player for a second chance in the match; otherwise, they will have to wait for their comrades to purchase a redeployment.

Another intriguing feature in Warzone's battle royale mode are team-based tasks called contracts where squads will receive money, loot and even special abilities upon the completion of tasks ranging from having one squad to open a number of supply boxes to defending a location. Speaking of money and loot, Call Of Duty Warzone offers another multiplayer mode called Plunder where players are competing for the most money obtained. Squads need to work together to find the most money whether it is done by completing contracts and fending off other players. They can use their obtained cash to purchase additional items that can help them secure their funds while the match progresses.

Warzone can be availed by those who have owned either a physical or digital copy of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare with a bevy of content to be unlocked for non-owners to try out until they decide to purchase the game in the foreseeable future. On the other hand, Modern Warfare season Battle Pass owners can continue their progression in Warzone. PC gamers need to habe a Battle.net subscription while an Xbox Live subscription is required for Xbix One owners to try it out. PS4 owners can enjoy Warzone even without a PS Plus subscription but PS Plus subscribers can receive a special Warzone Combat Pack from the PlayStation Store which comprises of operator skin, weapon blueprint, double XP token, calling card, weapon charm and in-game watch. Furthermore, Warzone features crossplay where players can compete against other players on all three gaming systems.
