The partnership between the two institutions was announced by no less than their President and CEO Robert S. Galang in a virtual pocket launch event held last August 5, 2020. Cignal's nationwide reach and unprecedented technological prowess combined with the innovative and creative nature that TV5 has been known for through the years is slated to be an exciting package for Filipino viewers as the new partnership aims to redefine the entertainment scene by offering topnotch shows and talents that can greatly boost TV5's reprogramming plan which remains intact since 2019, now bolstered by Cignal's other digital assets.
On the other hand, in a statement sent to major local news outlets, Cignal TV and TV5 chairman and CEO Manny V. Pangilinan stated that the companies are revving up their entertainment content creation and require creatives, talents, directors, scriptwriters, and cameramen among others. Also according to MVP, Cignal and TV5 are prepared to offer alternative jobs to relevantly displaced workers over time if they are willing and able to work with the network, which would definitely be a clear sign that they are more than ready to welcome more new people and program ideas into the fold.
Starting August 15, Filipino viewers can look forward to TV5's first salvo of an interesting mix of lifestyle programs and variety shows hosted by various artists with proven versatility and mass appeal. Kicking off the said salvo in a special pilot telecast starting at 6:00 pm are two game shows headlined by loveable comedians that promise loads of fun and prizes, namely Fill In The Bank with Jose Manalo and Pokwang and Bawal Na Game Show hosted by Wally Bayola and Paolo Ballesteros. These game shows will then make their way to weeknights at 7:00 pm with Fill In The Bank on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Bawal Na Game Show on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Get ready for intimate conversations and real life talk on Usapang Real Life with Luchi Cruz Valdes while making its long-awaited comeback to Philippine television is Bangon Talentadong Pinoy which aims to reflect the creativity and talent of Filipinos regardless of the situation they are facing with Ryan Agoncillo returning as host and John Arcilla, Janice De Belen, and Joross Gamboa as talent scouts for its premiere episode. In the fitness-centric show Fit For Life which is slated to begin airing on August 16 at 7:00 am, actress-host Jessy Mendiola will draw from her own fitness transformation journey in inspiring viewers to commit to a healthier lifestyle. Finally, there is the daily morning show Chika, BESH! (Basta Everyday Super Happy) beginning August 17 which brings together winsome movie and TV personalities Pokwang, Pauleen Luna-Sotto and Ria Atayde.
