Podcasts have always been around even before the birth of the World Wide Web and are becoming alternatives for Filipinos to be entertained and informed in today's modern world and amidst the tough and challenging times that they are facing. Now, with the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic mandating people to stay safe within the comforts of their own homes, these are steadily but surely given more attention than usual as part of their digitally-equipped lifestyle.
In fact, according to leading global music streaming service Spotify based on a recently conducted survey in partnership with YouGov, audio listening is a huge part in the everyday lives of Filipinos. The findings in the said survey show that 85 percent of Filipinos tune in to some type of music or podcast content throughout the day while 74 percent want time away from their screens. With more than 850,000 active channels and 30 million episodes available across the globe based on data from Oberlo, there's no question how impactful and trubitastic audioblogging and storytelling through podcasts are for many Filipino listeners and I think there are those that are considerably good for various types of listeners.
