IMPACT Wrestling Executive Vice-President Scott D' Amore, who granted Swann a world title shot against the self-annointed "World Class Maniac", said: "Fans should get ready for one of the most exciting matches in Bound For Glory history. Whatever people think about Young's tactics since he returned to IMPACT, no one can deny that he is one of the best in-ring performers in all of professional wrestling. But, Eric is facing a very determined Rich Swann. This is the biggest opportunity of Rich's career - a world title shot at IMPACT's showcase event of the year. And obviously, it's a very personal match for Rich. The World-Class Maniac returned to Slammiversary last July 18 as the surprise competitor in a five-way main event encounter for the IMPACT World Championship and eventually captured the title from Eddie Edwards weeks later. On the other hand, Swann spent the first half of 2020 rehabilitating his right leg after a serious fracture occurred in January, but announced his retirement on the August 4th episode of IMPACT weeks after reinjuring his leg at Slammiversary only to be assaulted backstage by Young moments after the said announcement. This has reignited the fire within Swann and made Swann determined to return to action in the wrestling ring and capture the World Championship.
Aside from the IMPACT World Championship, all other IMPACT Wrestling championship titles will also be on the line as part of what promises to be an instant classic Bound For Glory event with the full card to be announced in the coming weeks.
