Coinciding with the release of the highly anticipated live action film adaptation of Walt Disney Pictures' Mulan, Walt Disney Records has released its original motion picture soundtrack headlined by "Reflection" (2020) and a new original song "Loyal Brave True" performed by multi-platinum and award-winning global superstar singer/songwriter Christina Aguilera. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Music International has gathered fourteen of the most popular artists and emerging talents in Southeast Asia for a collaboration entitled HEAL with the universal purpose of conveying a message of hope in these challenging times. The soundtrack and the single can now be availed and streamed on all digital music platforms globally. Composed, conducted and produced by Harry Gregson-Williams and directed by Niki Caro ("The Zookeeper's Wife", "McFarland, USA"), the music for the film features a fully orchestrated score with an additional layer of featured Chinese instruments woven into its DNA given that it is made to underscore a film that is grounded with Chinese legend and history and at the heart of the soundtrack is a full-bodied symphony orchestra and a huge choir but with a lot of Chinese colors on the periphery according to Gregson-Williams. Written by Matthew Wilder and David Zippel, Reflection (2020) also has a Mandarin version performed by Yifei Liu. On the other hand, "Loyal Brave True" is an original song made especially for the live-action film adaptation written by Jamie Hartman, Harry Gregson-Williams, Rosi Golan and Billy Crabtree with Aguilera recording the song in both English and Spanish. Furthermore, the music videos for both tracks with Aguilera are helmed by Caro.
Seven popular and talented Filipino female performers - Jayda, Jona, Kyla, KZ Tandingan, Lesha, Moira Dela Torre, Xela (Alex Godinez) - are lending their therapeutic voices along with other emerging and talented artists in various Southeast Asian countries including Rinni Wulandari and Yula Yunita of Indonesia, DOLLA and Shalma Eliana of Malaysia, Haneri and Haven of Singapore and Valentina Ploy of Thailand for the inspirational single written by ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo (who also served as the song's overall producer), Moophs and Xela. A first in the region that seeks to convey love and spur unity for everyone's healing amidst the challenges brought by the pandemic, the collaboration is also a #StreamToDonate project with all the participating artists donating their share of fees and royalties to ABS-CBN's "Pantawid Ng Pag-Ibig" fund-raising project which aims to provide relief to Filipinos who have lost their sources of livelihood due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
