Viva Music Group, a subsidiary of Viva Communications, officially launched Viva Musika, a massive talent search that aims to discover promising but unsigned composers from all over the country. For Viva Communications chairman and chief operating officer Vic Del Rosario Jr., the search is seen as a continuation of Viva's long-running efforts to look for hidden talents and to eventually harness their musical careers to the fullest potential.
Vic Del Rosario Jr. has been at the forefront of the Philippine music scene when he formed Vicor Music Corporation back in the late 60's and eventually steered the company to the pinnacle of success as a leading proponent of original Filipino music. During its existence, Vicor discovered some of the greatest songwriters in the country and guided them to the peaks of their careers. Among them are George Canseco; Willy Cruz; Jose Mari Chan; Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon; the Juan Dela Cruz Band with Mike Hanopol, Pepe Smith and Wally Gonzales; Dennis and Rene Garcia of Hotdog; Rey Valera; Yoyoy Villame; Freddie Aguilar; and Odette Quesada among others.

The quest for the country's biggest hitmakers continued when Del Rosario former Viva Records thirty-nine (39) years ago. Through the years, Viva Records saw the release of memorable songs from Vehnee Saturno, Louie Ocampo, Ogie Alcasid, Moy Ortiz, Edith Gallardo, Freestyle, Rivermaya, Itchyworms and Soapdish as well as The Juans, ALLMO$T, John Roa, Juan Caoile, Karencitta, This Band, Because and Caleb Santos just to name a few in the present time. With the launch of Viva Musika, Del Rosario is hopeful that he will find more composers with the songs that will be added to a long list of classic and timeless Filipino songs that keeps on growing time after time.

Entry forms for Viva Musika will be available online starting September 16 until November 24 via vivamusika@viva.com.ph. Interested composers are required to submit three original songs that were never recorded or performed before or licensed to a music publisher. A panel of esteemed judges will then choose ten composers with the best songs who will be signed to exclusive contracts with Viva Music Publishing. Each of these composers will also receive Php100,000 in advance royalties and the chance for their songs to be recorded and used in a soundtrack for an upcoming Viva production. The names of the ten composers with the best songs will be formally announced on December 18, 2020.
