There's no stopping the YouTube FanFest, not even the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, from celebrating the creativity and ingenuity of the community of content creators and influencers across the Asia Pacific region and the joy, entertainment and inspiration they bring to their followers and millions of online viewers worldwide as it recently staged its first virtual edition last October 11, 2020 with online personalities in the region and different parts of the globe interacting and entertaining their fans in times of uncertainty. However, the celebration of the FanFest in the Philippines was delightfully special at one point.
During the opening of its Philippine segment, the first virtual YouTube FanFest paid homage and tribute to two renouned and pioneering Filipino content creators who have recently passed away and eventually joined our Creator the Lord Jesus Christ in the middle part of 2020, Lloyd Cadena fondly known in the online world as Kween LC and Emman Nimedez. Through a short video shown, several local content creators and YouTube FanFest participants including About RAF, Fumiya Sankai, Ben&Ben and SB19 have shared their thoughts about these two individual creators, their most memorable moments with them in person, and how they made an impact in people's lives in their own ways.
Lloyd Cafe Cadena is known as one of the most genuine, kind-hearted and funniest Filipino content creators. Having started his online career in 2011 with his parody videos, challenges and the infamously popular LC Learns series, the 26-year old internet sensation quickly rose as one of the pioneers of online content creation in the Philippines and has built his fanbase to over five million subscribers. In one of his last videos, Lloyd handed out free tablets to children to help them in their online learning during the pandemic which is a showcase of his remarkable generosity. Before he passed away due to complications caused by COVID-19, he was finally able to make his own dream of buying himself and his family their own house come true. Like her beloved son, Nanay Lorita has her own YouTube channel called Mother Kween Vlogs which already has more than 1.55 million subscribers.
A graduate of Broadcast Communication at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Emman Nimedez was naturally gifted as a director, actor and filmmaker. He started creating and sharing short films, covers and videos back in 2011 and soared to popularity in 2017 for his viral parody of the hit Korean drama series Goblin. With his well-loved videos that brought joy in the online community, Emman has earned himself a whopping 2.73 million subscribers. Among his many achievements as a creator and artist include the release of his debut single "Uuwian" last July 2020 which is a few months before his surprisingly untimely death. They may surely be missed by their beloved fans in the Philippines and around the world, but Lloyd Cadena and Emman Nimedez have already forged their own legacies and will be remembered as the great pioneers of the Filipino online content creator community.
